PG Logging Company wins Aboriginal Business Award

A Prince George business is being recognized for its commitment to the Aboriginal Community.

The Forest Products Association of Canada and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business announced that LTN Contracting has won the Aboriginal Business Leadership Award.

“I’d like to thank my crew and our partners in Lheidli T’enneh for the many years that we’ve been together. It’s been an awesome experience.” said LTN’s Troy Young who accepted the award.

LTN is a joint venture between the Lheidli T’enneh and Roga Contracting that endeavors to hire aboriginal workers.

“The award comes with a $5000 prize, which we’ll be using for LTN’s Education Fund” said Young. “It’s a fund we run to help our community members get education in forestry and in other businesses.”

LTN has helped support around 60 band members get schooling and training through the fund.

The forest products industry is one of the largest employers of Aboriginal workers in Canada.
