Indoor shelter available for those in need in Prince George

As winter makes its way to Prince George, warm indoor shelters will be accessible for people experiencing homelessness.

Funding from the province, through BC Housing, will be going towards 6,098 shelter spaces in 59 communities across BC, 161 of those in PG.

The ones available are permanent year round shelters, which include:

  • Bridget Moran Place, 1188 6th Ave – 45 spaces
  • AWAC Women’s Shelter, 144 George St – 40 spaces
  • Ketso Yoh Centre Men’s Hostel, 140 Quebec St – 36 spaces
  • Prince George Native Friendship Centre (youth shelter), 171 George St – 10 spaces
  • Second Ave Shelter, 1151 2nd Ave – 30 spaces

The Province said within the coming weeks and months, more shelter spaces will open up province-wide, following operating agreements and spaces identified by communities.

PG Mounties looking for man wanted for theft

The Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for 41-year-old Christopher Ronald Erickson.  According to police, he is wanted on two unendorsed warrants for theft under $5,000, and failing to comply with order.

Federal grant funding gives several PG sports facilities a face lift

Nomination period opens for Business Excellence Awards

The five finalists in each Business Excellence Awards category and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be revealed at a lunchtime announcement at Knox Performance Centre on September 11th. The awards will be handed out at a gala event, featuring keynote speaker Jody Wilson-Raybould, on Saturday, November 1st, at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.

PG’s Wisniowski reaches the podium at Judo event in Brazil

15-year-old Olivia Wisniowski of the Northern Judo Club reached the podium at the 2025 Copa Minas de Judo in Brazil after competing in the senior women’s 78-kg category.
