Vanderhoof RCMP investigating disturbing letters targeting staff at Evelyn Dickson Elementary

“It’s important for us to say no, this isn’t happening anymore.”

That’s from Vanderhoof Mayor Kevin Moutray as an RCMP investigation was launched over a series of disturbing letters teachers and staff at Evelyn Dickson Elementary School received.

Moutray told Vista Radio incidents in a small community like this are unacceptable.

“We have seen a number of these incidents recently but by no means does this represent our community – it is pretty much the opposite. It is important to step up and speak out and say enough is enough and to add the District of Vanderhoof’s voice to that.”

Moutray added the unfortunate part of all this is that it’s likely a person a lot of people know, which is disappointing.

“We know that the person is likely somebody that everyone knows probably, right? It is a small community and everyone knows everyone else.”

“It hurts when you see this in such a small community.”

Police were made aware of the situation on November 4th and local Mounties are working in conjunction with the district and School District 91 on the matter.
