Saints rally to dethrone Spruce Kings

The Prince George Spruce Kings found themselves on the losing end of a 5-2 score at the hands of the Spruce Grove Saints.

Trent Ballentyne and Brock Cummings put Prince George out front in the first period to the elation of the 1,108 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena.

However the Saints scored twice in the second and added one more in the third to gain the lead.

They’ll held it for the rest of the game, with James Richards putting the puck into the empty net for an insurance marker in the final minute.

Ryan Harvey added another with less than 30 seconds to go to seal the Spruce Grove win.

Carter Wishart got the start in net for the Spruce Kings, making 29 saves.

The Spruce Kings (6-12-2-1) are sitting ninth in the BCHL’s Coastal Conference.

The Spruce Kings are back in action Friday, starting a four-game road trip in Coquitlam.

Special Olympics PG gearing up for 29th Annual Charity Golf Classic

The excitement isn't quite done yet for Special Olympics Prince George athletes as they gear up to host the 29th Annual Prince George Charity Golf Classic on Saturday. "We've got 26 teams that have registered, we're full, it's a gunshot start," said Special Olympics Prince George Public Relations Coordinator Wilma Van Hage.
