Public hearing for St. Lawrence Avenue and Vista Ridge Drive housing development coming back to council table

There will be another public hearing for a new housing development at 8640 St. Lawrence Avenue and 2800 Vista Ridge Drive.

This will happen at Monday’s council meeting, with the public hearing commencing at 7:00 pm.

The applicant is seeking to rezone the area in question to multiple residential, and has applied to subdivide the area into 11 residential lots.

This will be the second public hearing on the issue, as a lengthy public hearing was held at the Council Meeting on September 25th.

The traffic impact study presented at that meeting was outdated, and Council requested to postpone the public hearing until a new traffic impact study could be presented.

Many of the neighbours in the area are opposed to the development, citing the usual concerns of traffic, stating St. Lawrence Avenue will be the only way in and out for the new development.

Other concerns presented include an increased strain on the infrastructure in the area, an increase in enrolment at nearby schools and removal of green space.

Other items to be discussed on Monday includes an update to the City’s Housing Needs Report, and access to public washrooms in the downtown area.

The full agenda for Monday’s meeting is here.
