Canadian Cancer Society looking to better support patients with Wheels of Hope

The Canadian Cancer Society is looking to better support cancer patients with transportation.

The Wheels of Hope program provides transport for residents in Prince George who don’t have a way to get to their cancer treatment with the help of volunteers.

Volunteer Recruiter, Mark Kahan says the service is a rewarding one.

“Volunteers get to meet people from all walks of life, and those conversations in the ride can be very special.” says Kahan.

“I often hear from our volunteers, they tell me they get back so much more than they give. It really is a special experience.”

The service isn’t just provided in Prince George, as it runs through most of Canada.

Kahan says recent funding from the BC Government helped expand the program in the province, helping more people get access to treatment.

The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteers, with sign up and more information on their website here.
