Canada Post strike prompts cancellation of Public Hearing

The City of Prince George has cancelled a public hearing that was scheduled for Monday’s City Council meeting.

According to the City, the hearing was cancelled due to the Canada Post strike.

“Local governments are required to mail or otherwise deliver notice of a public hearing regarding land use bylaws at least 10 days before the hearing,” the notice of cancellations reads.

“Due to the Canada Post strike, the City has used alternative methods of delivery. However, we have been unable to confirm the delivery of the notices. As a result, to ensure procedural fairness, we have cancelled the public hearing scheduled for December 16, 2024.”

The hearing in question is in regards to 880 Guay Road.

The applicant is proposing to redesignate a 22.7 ha portion of the property from “Rural Resource” to “Light Industrial.”

The City will issue a new notice if the hearing is rescheduled for a later date.
