New 5-Year Deal for Pine Valley Golf Centre

The City of Prince George has signed a new contract for the Pine Valley Golf Centre.

Monday night City Council voted 6-1 in favour of the 5-year agreement with GNR Property Management to run the course on behalf of the City.

Councillor Albert Koehler was the only council member opposed to the deal.

“For us at the City, so far we do not know what the Pine Valley Golf Club will cost us” Said Councillor Koehler. “It could be millions, or at least one million or more because we are talking about an irrigation system which may fail or has to be updated as well as some buildings.”

Mayor Lyn Hall was in favour of the deal.

“It’s a bit of a jewel in the heart of our city” said Mayor Hall. “It’s a tremendous green space, it provides golfing opportunities to seniors and those who have disabilities because it is a flat course.”

In the event that the facility requires renovations, Council can decide whether to invest in the course or terminate the contract with GNR.
