UPDATE: PG RCMP re-opened Highway 97 after search warrant execution

Updated Story 1:31 PM

The Prince George RCMP is no longer in the area of the Hart Highway and Noranda Road.

Police confirmed the closure between Noranda Road and Northwood Pulpmill Road was in connection to a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant execution.

The road was reopened within an hour of its closure this morning, and no further updates will be provided.

Updated Story 10:45 AM

RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper confirmed to MyPGNow the road has since re-opened to all traffic.

Original Story 9:53 AM

Prince George Mounties and the Emergency Response Team are currently in the area of the Hart Highway and Noranda Road in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Officers will have a section of the highway closed off between Noranda Road and Northwood Pulpmill Road for several hours this morning. A detour will be available.

“We are asking that those in the area stay away from where police officers are conducting their investigation, in order to give investigators space to conduct their work safely. There is no increased concern for the public’s safety,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Further updates will be made available as necessary.
