Prince George Fire Chief closing out career after three decades

The City of Prince George has announced Fire Chief Cliff Warner will be retiring in the spring.

Chief Warner served with PG Fire Rescue Service for 30 years, and was appointed to his current role in January of 2022.

According to the City, his leadership was instrumental in navigating the department through challenges and achievements, the 2017 and 2018 wildfire evacuations, and operational adaptations to the pandemic.

“We are deeply thankful for Chief Warner’s decades of service. As Mayor, and on behalf of the citizens of Prince George, we appreciate his tireless work under challenging circumstances, particularly in recent years. He has earned the utmost respect from all of us,” said Mayor Simon Yu.

His final day with the department will be May 30th, and the City will begin the process of selecting a new fire chief.

“Something that rings true to me is the camaraderie, collaboration, and teamwork that have made my time with Prince George Fire Rescue so special. I feel blessed to have been a part of this team. I’ve worked with many great people over the years, learned a lot, and hope I’ve been able to share some of my knowledge in return,” added Warner.

Warner looks forward to spending more time with his family, including three grandchildren.
