Rebel Rebel: Cougars pick up Cole Peardon from Red Deer

The Prince George Cougars are hoping to unearth another diamond in the rough.

Today (Thursday), General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb acquired 18-year-old forward Cole Peardon from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2026.

Peardon has played 23 games this season for the Rebels and the Prince Albert Raiders. Over that span, he owns five points.

Over his 133 games in his WHL, the Outlook, Saskatchewan product has collected 29 points.

Peardon also represented Team Canada at the World U-17 Challenge in 2022. He was the 13th selection of the 2021 WHL Prospect’s Draft by Prince Albert.

“Cole is a former first-rounder that the scouts think has untapped potential,” commented GM & Head Coach Mark Lamb. “He is a left-handed shot that plays a responsible game and is a good penalty killer.”

This is the third Cougars deal in as many days. On Wednesday, PG picked up 19-year-old scoring forward Ben Riche from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for 18-year-old forward Hunter Laing, 15-year-old prospect Luke Dumas a 1st round pick in 2026 and a 5th rounder in 2028.

On Tuesday, the Cougars brought in 6’5 blueliner Aleksey Chichkin from the Regina Pats in exchange for a 2027 fourth round selection. The 19-year-old arrived in PG last night (Wednesday) and is expected to make his debut this weekend.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday with games against the Kelowna Rockets and Kamloops Blazers.
