Spruce Kings add scoring centre, goaltender

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added another forward to their roster.

The team announced today (Sunday) they’ve signed 2005-born centre Corson Maguire for the remainder of the season.

Maguire, a product of Toronto, has 14 goals and 16 assists with Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League.

“We’re excited to add Corson,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

“He’s a hard working player who can produce offensively while also playing a well rounded game. This addition to our forward group really enhances our depth at that position.”

The Spruce Kings have also signed 2006-born goaltender Ben Polhill for the remainder of the season.

Polhill, a product of Cochrane, Alberta, has racked up a 3.30 GAA and a .898 save percentage in 20 games with the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

“Ben is a big athletic goalie who will come in and battle for the net,” Hawes said.

“Healthy internal competition for the net is a good thing and will make our team better. We’re excited to add Ben to our group.”

The Spruce Kings are currently on the All-Star Break with the rest of the BCHL.
