The BC Natural Resources Forum had various government representatives, First Nations, as well as industry and business leaders discuss challenges and futures pertaining to natural resources.
The three-day event concluded today (Thursday) in Prince George.
C3 Alliance CEO, Sarah Weber said those include economic challenges, curtailments in forestry, and cumulative impacts on the land.
“Government deals with these challenges all the time, and industry feels it’s important to be in there providing suggestions and solutions.”
“Sometimes there’s challenges that face us all so, this group comes together at the start of every year, and I think it’s a really good time to reset, reflect, and develop some priorities for the year.”
BC Premier David Eby also made a brief appearance to kick off the forum.
Weber says the forum is also another way for the north and southern parts of the province to have better understandings on issues and challenges presented.
She adds Prince George continues to be the best place to host these events, as it’s a central location in BC, is accessible, with the venue being small enough for people to rub shoulders and be focused.
“The conference is really about who comes together for these great conversations and meetings, and we’re at such an important time of BC’s natural resource sectors.” says Weber.
“There’s so many things going on between forestry, mining, energy, and the conversations around those.”
The BC Natural Resources Forum will return to Prince George for its 23rd annual event next year from January 20th to the 22nd.
