Blazers’ second period scoring explosion sinks Cougars

An uninspired second period was the downfall for the Prince George Cougars as they fell 5-2 to the Kamloops Blazers.

The Cougars got out to an early start, with Leith Hunter springing Koehn Ziemmer for a breakaway goal before all of the 6,016 in attendance at the CN Centre could find their seats.

The rest of the period was quiet, before the Blazers exploded for four goals in the second period.

Josh Ravensbergen got the hook after the third Kamloops goal, he had let in three goals on 14 shots.

Borya Valis added one more for the Cats before the period ended.

Former Cougars Oren Shtrom put the game on ice in the third, scoring his second of the night.

The Cougars outshot the Blazers 32-23.

The Cougars (25-15-3-2) are second in the BC Division, three points behind the Victoria Royals (25-13-3-5).

Mounties make an arrest in relation to Friday’s ambulance-involved collision

The Prince George RCMP has made an arrest in relation to a motor vehicle incident involving an ambulance and a pickup truck. Just after midnight on September 5th, Frontline Police Officers responded to the incident at the intersection of Carney Street and 15th Avenue.
