Spruce Kings add goalie with QMJHL Finals experience

The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed another goaltender.

2004-born Charles-Edward Gravel will join the team for the remainder of the season.

Gravel, a product of Lévis, Quebec, has played in 211 regular season and playoff games in the QMJHL over the past five seasons, winning 99 games, including 20 playoff games with a 3.06 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

In 28 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs this season, Gravel has posted a 14-14 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

Last season, Gravel went 12-4-1 in the QMJHL playoffs, leading the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to the QMJHL finals.

He has also committed to Mercyhurst University for next season.

“Charles-Edward is an elite level veteran goalie. We jumped on adding him to our team once the opportunity presented itself,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

Gravel will join the team this week, and is expected to be available when the Spruce Kings host the Coquitlam Express on Friday.
