Theatre NorthWest is turning into a beauty salon tonight (Thursday).
Steel Magnolias is set in a small Louisiana town, exploring friendships and resilient spirits of a close-knit group of women.
Director, Melissa Glover talks about the bringing the play to life.
“We have a lot of varying experience levels in the cast, and I created it more with a collaboration from the actor, because they are the ones at the end of the day that have to perform the show.”
The play name may ring a bell for some, as it’s also a film which released back in 1989, though Glover says people shouldn’t see the show with the movie in mind.
She added the play only takes place in the salon, making references to the movie, rather than a one for one.
The stage play will continue until March 5th, with matinee showtimes at 2:00, and evening showings at 7:00.
