Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum wants its vintage train horn back after weekend theft

Thieves made off with a vintage M5 Airchime railway horn from the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum over the weekend.

Workers attempted to detach the horn from its train outside due to its high market value on Friday but couldn’t because they didn’t have the right tools and when they returned Sunday morning, the horn was gone.

Executive Director, Baptiste Marcere told MyPGNow.com the airchime has been apart of railcars since the 1950s and can go for thousands of dollars online.

“The one that was stolen recently can go very high on the market. So, you have train enthusiasts that love to take those kind of things because they can be quite expensive.”

“On our side, we do have a network of people that are now aware of the theft and are going to check the markets and marketplaces where you can sell these kinds of things. This one is very specific so if someone, somewhere wants to sell it we might be able to see it.”

He adds two other horns were stolen, including a rare BCR M5 last year.

The railway museum has since contacted the Prince George RCMP who are asking people to watch for stolen items online.
