Prince George Fire Crews tackle blaze causing nearly $500,000 in damages

The Prince George Fire Rescue Service had a busy start to the day.

At approximately 1:40 this morning, crews from three firehalls responded to a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of Parsnip Crescent.

In a release, the City said first arriving crews found heavy smoke and flame coming from the roof and eaves of the building on all four sides, quickly confining the the fire, and preventing any spread.

All occupants of the home made it out safely without injuries, and crews remained on scene for several hours to suppress the fire, and assist anyone affected.

The cause remains unknown, and is under investigation, with damages estimated at $450,000.

SuperWalk helps bring awareness to Parkinson’s in Prince George

The annual Parkinson's SuperWalk in Prince George saw an "overwhelming response" from the community this year. SuperWalk Coordinator Gina Beddome said they normally get between 75 and 100 people out for the walk, but they were hoping for at least 200.
