PG Cougars score Wild come-from-behind win in Wenatchee

Make it five victories in a row for the Prince George Cougars.

The Cougars erased a 3-1 second period deficit to beat the Wild 4-3 before 2,590 fans Wednesday night in Wenatchee.

Lee Shurgot tallied the winner with 7:42 left in the 3rd.

His goal came less than three minutes after Jett Lajoie tied the game on the power play.

Viliam Kmec gave Prince George life when scored with just 1:36 left in the second.

It also came with the man advantage as the Cougars went 2-for-2 on the power play while Wenatchee was 0-for-2.

Kmec also assisted on the Bauer Dumanski goal at 4:23 of the second.

Josh Ravensbergen had another strong game in the P.G. net with 31 saves as the Wild outshot the Cats 34-32.

The 18-year-old Ravensbergen was at his best in the final 3:45 of the game with his team shorthanded.

Evan Groening was tossed following a Major Penalty for elbowing and a Game Misconduct at 16:15 of the third.

The (36-19-4-2) Cougars are just three points behind the (36-15-3-6) Victoria Royals in the battle for top spot in the B.C. Division.

Prince George has seven regular season games left while Victoria has eight remaining.

This weekend, the Cougars play in Wenatchee again on Friday.

They also visit the league-leading (42-11-4-3) Everett Silvertips Saturday and the
(29-24-8) Vancouver Giants Sunday (in Langley).

The Royals are home Friday and Saturday against the (41-18-1-1) Spokane Chiefs.

Wenatchee is three points behind Seattle for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

CN Centre’s 30th Anniversary shaping up to be big celebration

The City of Prince George will be celebrating the CN Centre at the end of the month. On September 28th, the City will be celebrating the venue's 30th birthday with an event from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., which will also include the City's annual International Students Welcome and Thank You PG Volunteer Appreciation event. 

SuperWalk helps bring awareness to Parkinson’s in Prince George

The annual Parkinson's SuperWalk in Prince George saw an "overwhelming response" from the community this year. SuperWalk Coordinator Gina Beddome said they normally get between 75 and 100 people out for the walk, but they were hoping for at least 200. 

Kodiaks shredded by Okanagan air attack

It was a Saturday night to forget at Masich Place Stadium for the Prince George Kodiaks, as they fell 60-6 to the undefeated Okanagan Sun. "It was execution, we weren't our finest for sure," said Kodiaks Head Coach Jamie Boreham.
