SD57 to take public feedback over Giscome Elementary’s potential closure

School District 57 will be holding a community public consultation meeting regarding Giscome Elementary School’s future.

The purpose of the meeting is for District staff to speak to school closure considerations, and for individuals to provide feedback.

Board Trustees spoke about the potential closure at their meeting on February 11th, which was due to enrollment.

Superintendent Jameel Aziz stated the school is projected to only have, at best, seven students by next year, but more than likely would be four.

The community public consultation meeting will be on Monday at 6pm, at Giscome Elementary School.

Feedback period will go until April 4th, and will be received by the Board on April 16th, with the final decision to be made April 22nd.
