Former BC Conservative MLA’s to sit as independents in the legislature

Three ex MLAs with the Conservative Party of BC told reporters today (Monday) that they have made a decision to sit as independents.

The Conservatives recently lost the three Caucus members with the possibility of more to come.

It began when leader John Rustad booted Vancouver-Quilchena MLA Dallas Brodie from the party for comments she made about residential schools.

After that, Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy and Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream MLA Tara Armstrong said they were leaving.

Armstrong said that Rustad has “Abandoned the truth and his moral compass–in a quest for power.”

Trouble had been brewing since Brodie posted on social media last month that “Zero” child burials had been confirmed at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

The Conservatives are down to 41 seats in the legislature behind the governing NDP with 47 MLAs. The Greens have two, and there are three Independents.
