Quesnel Mayor Ron Paull has been unanimously reinstated in Tuesday’s special council meeting to several committees.
The City Council held a ‘Special Open’ meeting on Tuesday, March 11, during which Paull returned to some of his duties as Mayor.
The meeting was held after Paull won his court case against the City regarding the sanctions and censures it had imposed on him.
Paull will now chair the New Standing Committee – Governance and Strategy Committee through the duration of the Council term.
He has also been reappointed to the Airport Advisory Committee on the Council Select Committee.
Paull also returns on a few External Committee Appointments.
He is back on the NDIT Cariboo-Chilcotin/Lillooet Regional Advistory Committee, with Councillor Scott Elliot named as Paull’s alternate. Paull has also been reinstated on the Cariboo Regional District Board, and the Air Quality Roundtable.
Later in the meeting, Paull put forward a motion that council direct him “to prepare a draft resolution” that calls for the Province to permanently year round Daylight Savings Time, or Pacific Standard Time.
The drafted resolution would call the Province to move forward on the permanent clock change without waiting for the pacific United States of Washington, Oregan, and California to adopt a permenant time change. Which Premier David Eby said he would wait for and work with the pacific states to enact a permenant change.
The motion, was soundly defeated, with only Councillor Debra McKelvie voting in favour.
