BC Government fast-tracking credential approval for American-trained health professionals

The BC Government will be fast-tracking the approval of credentials from American health care professionals.

Health Minister Josie Osborne says the there’s been a sharp increase in Americans interested in moving to BC over the last few weeks, adding it’s no surprise in light of recent events.

She says US trained doctors and physicians certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties, could become fully licenced in our province without further training or examinations.

American-trained nurses would be able to apply directly for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives without needing any further assessment.

The provincial government is also launching a recruiting campaign in Washington, Oregon and California, hoping to win over disaffected medical personnel.
