Agriplex closure extended to April 14th

The closure of the Prince George Agriplex has been extended to April 14.

According to a Facebook post from the Prince George Horse Society, this is to prioritize the safety of boarded horses, public riders and equine events, and this decision was made following recommendations from local veterinarians.

Last week, the club confirmed there has been a case of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EVH-1), a highly contagious virus that affects horses, and can lead to severe respiratory and neurological issues.

Horse Society President Kate Peebles previously told Vista Radio they originally had a goal of opening after a quarantine process of 14 days, but she wasn’t optimistic of opening after that period.

Additionally, the post from Saturday says there has been no change in the condition of the affected horse.
