Northern Health warns of potential scams using health authority’s name

Northern Health is sounding the alarm on potential scams happening in the health authority.

According to social media posts from the health authority, there’s been several instances of individuals receiving phone calls about having won a prize, such as a fire safety basket or a free home safety inspection.

“Northern Health would like to clarify that these calls are in no way affiliated with the health authority; the callers may be representing a company with ‘Northern Health’ as part of its business name,” the post reads.

Northern Health is advising anyone who receives an email or phone call claiming affiliation with Northern Health to check the origin of these solicitations before providing any personal information or making any purchases or donations.

They added when it doubt, contact the health authority to confirm anything using Northern Health or its facilities’ names to ensure their legitimacy.
