Local film producer chronicling journey of Battlestar Galactica actor Michael Hogan

A Prince George filmmaker is set to begin shooting a documentary highlighting the journey of a prominent Canadian actor.

Norm Coyne of Barker Street Cinema has joined forces with Kate Kroll (Black Moon Media) and actor Edward James Olmos to chronicle Michael Hogan’s return to acting after sustaining a brain injury during a fall in Vancouver five years ago.

Hogan, who attended Prince George Fan Con in 2015, is most well-known for his role as Saul Tigh in Battlestar Galactica. He also played major parts in shows like Teen Wolf and Fargo.

The documentary, called Good to be Seen, will tell the story of Hogan and his wife Susan as the 76-year-old from Ontario attempts to return to the stage after the accident left him brain-injured, paralyzed and, partially blind.

During the 2022 FanCon festival in Prince George, a full-sized frame of a helicopter was built into a spaceship, which was subsequently auctioned off to help assist with Hogan’s recovery efforts at the time.

The title of the film stems from the time Coyne and Hogan visited time since his accident during a side trip from the Whistler Film Festival that same year.

A Good Fund Me Page, which was created by Susan in September of 2020, has amassed $521,450 in donations. The goal is to reach $600,000.

Good to be Seen will be shooting throughout 2025. Telefilm Canada has provided development support.
