PG Public Library boasts busy Thursday

The Prince George Public library is preparing for a Thursday (29th) Doubleheader with two unique events.

Up first, President of Ingenia Consulting and author Ramona Materi will talk about developing and building businesses in Northern BC, and how they can succeed.

“It’s about how businesses can develop, come to the North, and build strong businesses with the many unique considerations that we, as Northerners, know we posses,” explains Communications Coordinator Andrea Palmer, “We always saw ‘We’re open for business in the North,’ and this is something for small businesses and startups all the way to corporations.”

After that, participants will look at the night sky with a different perspective with First Nations Astronomy Folklore.

Michael Gomes and Lenard Paquette will bring oral storytelling and artwork to the table to delve deeper into the stars.

“They’ll be looking at alternative interpretations of constellations well known to us from Greek Mythology,” adds Palmer. “The audience will be able to see different world views of Canada’s diverse First Nations.”

The library reaches out to organizations for special meetings, but often, people seek the library out.

“We get contacted all the time by special groups who have a certain interest. For example, we recently had a talk on aviation history in Prince George, so we were involved with some of the aviation groups.”

Both events are free, and run this Thursday at the Bob Harkins branch of the PG Public Library.
