BC Government Offering Free Firewood Permits

Fireplaces are starting to light up as temperatures drop around the province.

The Provincial Government is reminding residents who cut their own firewood to make sure they get a permit before heading into the woods.

The permits are free and ensure that residents are cutting in approved areas to avoid damage to local habitats and keep forests safe for recreation.

An ongoing concern for the province is the cutting down of trees on crown land. Cutting without a permit could result in a violation ticket or fine.

Residents buying from commercial firewood producers should ask to see a “Forestry Licence to Cut”.

Permits are available online at the BC Government website.
