Sunday’s Prince George Kidney Walk was a roaring success.

Residents showed up in force at the Northern Sport Centre to raise money for kidney research and increase awareness about the importance of organ donation

“It was really awesome, we had the best turnout ever” said Walk Coordinator Diane Duperron. “We’re estimating about 175 to 200 people.”

According to Duperron, the walk raised about $30,000 to go towards kidney research and patient care.

“My husband is a Dialysis patient, so it is near and dear to us” said Duperron. “We’ve had the chapter here for almost ten years so it’s gratifying that people are supporting our Prince George Kidney community.”

Prior to the walk, Staff from Service BC were recognized for their contributions to the cause with the Kidney Foundation’s Leadership Award.
