Jansen Harkins of the Prince George Cougars scored for Team WHL in a convincing 7-3 victory over Team Russia in Kelowna.
It was the first game played in the 2015 CHL Canada-Russia Series.
Team WHL enjoyed period leads of 2-0 and 6-0.
The same two teams meet again tonight (Tuesday) in Kamloops.
In CHL vs Russia competition, the CHL holds a 50-17-6 record since 2003.
