The Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement has recognized Northern Health and the University Hospital of Northern BC.
The hospital scored in the top 30 on a Canada wide study when is comes to visiting hours and flexibility.
“Being in hospital is difficult for patients and their loved ones.” Northern Health spokesperson Jonathan Dyck said “It can be scary and stressful, but having family nearby and able to visit at any time helps make it a little bit easier and we recognize that.”
Dyck says different hospitals and departments across Northern Health have varying recommended visiting hours. “Family and friends are welcome to visit throughout the day, but it’s about finding that balance for facilities to be able to allow patients time to rest and recover, but also have time with their loved ones.”
UHNBC was the only facility in Northern Health that was evaluated in the 114 hospital study.
