BC Football Conference: (At Masich Place Stadium)

Prince George Kodiaks  35  Valley Huskers (Chilliwack)  35   (Saturday tie)

The Huskers scored the go-ahead touchdown to make it 35-34 with 40 seconds left in the game, however the Kodiaks tied the game with 4.8 seconds remaining on a missed 15-yard field goal that went for a single point.

With just two regular season games left, Prince George is in 3rd place in the 7-team league with the top four to advance to the playoffs.

The (4-3-1) Kodiaks host the (0-7) Kamloops Broncos on Saturday, September 27th before closing on the road at Valley on October 4th.

The BCFC standings: Okanagan 8-0 (clinched first place), Westshore 6-2, P.G. 4-3-1, Vancouver Island 2-4-1, Valley 2-4-1, Langley 2-4-1 and Kamloops 0-7.

The Spruce Kings start their regular season Friday night at 7:00 in Chilliwack against the Chiefs.

Their home opener is set for Friday, September 26th against the Surrey Eagles.

NHL:

The Washington Capitals assistant coach Mitch Love of Quesnel has been placed on a team-imposed leave pending the results of an NHL investigation.

The Capitals have not given a reason for the investigation.

Love joined the Caps ahead of the 2023-24 season.

NFL: (Week 2)

Philadelphia Eagles  20  Kansas City Chiefs  17  (Super Bowl rematch)

Atlanta Falcons  22  Minnesota Vikings  6  (Sunday night)

There are a pair of Monday Night games in the NFL to conclude the second week of the season; Tampa Bay at Houston (4:00) followed by LA Chargers at Las Vegas (7:00).

CFL: 

The (6-7) B.C. Lions hold a cross-over playoff spot in the CFL with five regular season games remaining.

The Lions are tied with Winnipeg for 3rd in the West, but the Blue Bombers hold the tiebreaker.

B.C. will visit (8-4) Calgary Friday night at 6:30.

Week 16 of the season will start Friday night at 4:00 with (6-7) Montreal at (5-8) Toronto.

CFL West: Saskatchewan 10-3, Calgary 8-4, Winnipeg 6-7, B.C. 6-7, Edmonton 5-8.
CFL East: Hamilton 8-5, Montreal 6-7, Toronto 5-8, Ottawa 4-9.

With 13 games left, the (87-62) Blue Jays have the best record in the American League and lead the A.L. East by 4 games over the New York Yankees and by 5.5 over the Boston Red Sox.

Toronto starts a 7-game road trip tonight (Monday 4:35) in Tampa Bay against the (73-76) Rays.

The Yankees play this evening in Minnesota while the Red Sox have Monday off.

Spruce Kings pick up win over Salmon Arm

The Prince George Spruce Kings scored early and often in a 4-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Dracen Campbell got the 1,009 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena in to the game early, opening the scoring for the Spruce Kings just 4:08 into the first.
