With just 10 games remaining, the (89-63) Blue Jays have the best record in the American League and lead the A.L. East by 4 games over the New York Yankees and by 6 over the Boston Red Sox.

WHL:

It has been 5 1/2 months since the Prince George Cougars played a meaningful game.

The Cougars WHL regular season begins on home ice as they entertain the Portland Winterhawks in a doubleheader at CN Centre, Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have one weekend game to begin their BCHL regular season.

The Spruce kings play Friday night at 7:00 in Chilliwack against the Chiefs.

Their home opener is set for Friday, September 26th against the Surrey Eagles.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves resume their Canada West Soccer schedule on the road this weekend.

The 3-3-1 UNBC men visit Calgary Saturday (1 PM PT) and Mount Royal Sunday (2 PM PT).

The (0-7) UNBC women visit TRU in Kamloops Saturday afternoon at 1:00.

NFL: 

An AFC East division match-up to begin the third week of the NFL season.

The (0-2) Miami Dolphins visit the (2-0) Buffalo Bills tonight (Thursday 5:15 PT kickoff).

The Bills are one of 10 unbeaten teams while the Dolphins are one of 10 that are winless.

CFL: 

There will be a pair of Friday games in the CFL to start Week 16 of the season as (6-7) Montreal visits (5-8) Toronto (4:00 PT).

That will be followed by the (6-7) B.C. Lions at the (8-4) Calgary Stampeders (6:30).

The Lions hold a cross-over playoff spot in the CFL with five regular season games remaining.

B.C. is tied with Winnipeg for 3rd in the West, but the Blue Bombers hold the tiebreaker.

CFL West: Saskatchewan 10-3, Calgary 8-4, Winnipeg 6-7, B.C. 6-7, Edmonton 5-8.
CFL East: Hamilton 8-5, Montreal 6-7, Toronto 5-8, Ottawa 4-9.

BC Football Conference: 

The Prince George Kodiaks are off this week.

The (4-3-1) Kodiaks, with two regular season games left in the BC Football Conference, host the (0-7) Kamloops Broncos on Saturday, September 27th before closing on the road in Chilliwack against the Valley Huskers on October 4th.

Prince George is in 3rd place in the 7-team league with the top four to advance to the playoffs.

The BCFC standings: Okanagan 8-0 (clinched first place), Westshore 6-2, P.G. 4-3-1, Vancouver Island 2-4-1, Valley 2-4-1, Langley 2-4-1 and Kamloops 0-7.

City Council to discuss potential purchasing bylaw amendments

Prince George City Council will consider a notice of motion in regards to the disposal of assets at tomorrow's (Monday) meeting. The notice of motion was put forward by Councillors Cori Ramsay and Brian Skakun, and recommends that Council refers the City's purchasing bylaw to bring back options to better articulate section 5.3 of the bylaw. 

Nechako Valley claims PG Bowl win over College Heights

The Nechako Valley Secondary School Vikings are moving onto provincials following a 24-6 trouncing over College Heights in the PG Bowl. "The boys came to play, I'm super proud of them," said Nechako Valley Head Coach Sheldon Brown. 

Spruce Kings pick up win over Salmon Arm

The Prince George Spruce Kings scored early and often in a 4-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Dracen Campbell got the 1,009 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena in to the game early, opening the scoring for the Spruce Kings just 4:08 into the first. 

Dumanski completes the Cougars’ comeback in Seattle
