Mavrik looking forward to PG Cougars home opener after returning from cancer treatment

It’s been an exciting week for 3-year-old Mavrik from Prince George, who continues his battle against against high-risk neuroblastoma.

Mavrik is coming off of 12 days of radiation and immunotherapy, which his father Derek Turnbull said he’s recovered from.

Turnbull said after celebrating his birthday on Sunday, they returned to home on Wednesday to take in HockeyFest.

“We have two older kids as well. They’re participating in the U-13 category. They’ve got three games on Saturday.”

“The teams called Mavrik’s All-Stars, so have a look for them when you’re out there.”

Mavrik will also be attending the Prince George Cougars home opener tonight (Friday), which Turnbull said he’s excited to see.

Moving forward, Turnbull said he’ll be on a routine schedule for immunotherapy, barring any issues.

“He roughly has two weeks of immunotherapy every month, with a little over a week of being inpatient in the hospital.”

“We are hopefully gonna get a couple weeks each month to come back home with a full return of February.”

Those interested can follow Mavrik’s progress on the Mavrik’s Battle With Cancer Facebook page here.
