WHL:

The San Jose Sharks have reduced their training camp by sending goalie Josh Ravensbergen back to the Prince George Cougars.

Ravensbergen was selected by the Sharks in the first round (30th overall) in this year’s NHL Draft.

Defenceman Corbin Vaughn is back with the Cougars after attending the New York Rangers training camp.

Cougars forward Aiden Foster played in an NHL pre-season game Monday with the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Foster was Tampa Bay’s fourth round pick (127th overall).

17-year-old defenceman Phoenix Cahill has signed a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement with the P.G. Cougars.

Cahill was selected 15th overall by the Cougars in the 2023 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft.

The Cottage Grove, MN native has already secured an NCAA commitment to Colorado College.

The P.G. Cougars are idle until they play a doubleheader against the (1-1) Chiefs Oct 3rd and 4th in Spokane.

The next home game for Prince George will be Wednesday, Oct. 8th against the (0-1) Kelowna Rockets.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed forward Jackson Froysland.

The 19-year-old Froysland is from Byron Center, Michigan.

He tallied 41 points (24 goals) last season with the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL.

The (0-1) P.G. Spruce Kings have their home opener Friday night at 7:00 against the (0-2) Surrey Eagles followed by a home game Saturday night at 6:00 against the (0-2) Okotoks Oilers.

NFL: (Monday night game to conclude Week 3)

Detroit Lions  38  Baltimore Ravens  30

The Lions improved to 2-1 while the Ravens dropped to 1-2.

CFL: 

The (7-7) B.C. Lions host the (5-9) Toronto Argonauts Friday night at 7:00.

The Lions are tied with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for third place in the CFL West, just two points behind the (8-5) Calgary Stampeders.

B.C., with four regular season games left, hold a cross-over playoff spot.

Week 17 begins with Calgary at (7-7) Montreal Friday at 4 p.m. (PT).

CFL West: Saskatchewan 10-3, Calgary 8-5, Winnipeg 7-7, B.C. 7-7, Edmonton 5-9.
CFL East: Hamilton 9-5, Montreal 7-7, Toronto 5-9, Ottawa 4-10.

BC Football Conference: 

The (4-3-1) Prince George Kodiaks, with two regular season games left in the B.C. Football Conference, host the (0-8) Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00 at Masich Place Stadium.

They will close on the road in Chilliwack against the (3-4-1) Valley Huskers on October 4th.

The Kodiaks are in 3rd place in the 7-team league and with a win over Kamloops can clinch its first-ever playoff spot.

(The top four teams advance to the playoffs).

The BCFC standings: Okanagan 9-0, Westshore 6-3, P.G. 4-3-1, Vancouver Island 3-4-1, Valley 3-4-1, Langley 2-5-1 and Kamloops 0-8.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves have pair of home games coming up in Canada West men’s soccer.

The (3-4-2) UNBC men host the (4-1-2) Fraser Valley Cascades Friday morning at 11:00 and Saturday at noon.

On the women’s side, the (0-8) Timberwolves travel to Victoria to play the (2-2-2) Vikes Friday and Saturday night at 5:00.

MLB: 

The Toronto Blue Jays, who have clinched a playoff spot, host the (85-71) Boston Red Sox in a 3 game series starting tonight (Tuesday 4:07 PM PT) before entertaining (76-80) Tampa Bay in a 3-game series beginning Friday to wrap up the regular season.

The (90-66) Blue Jays have the best record in the American League and they lead the A.L. East by two games over the (88-68) New York Yankees.

The Yankees host the (58-98) Chicago White Sox tonight, Wednesday and Thursday and will also host the (73-83) Baltimore Orioles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The (87-69) Seattle Mariners lead the A.L. West by three games over the (84-72) Houston Astros with just six to play.

Seattle will host the (43-113) Colorado Rockies tonight to Thursday before closing at home with a 3-game series against the (88-68) LA Dodgers starting Friday.

The Astros visit the (73-83) Athletics this evening.
