Prince George community members to walk for souls in memorial walk

Crisis Centre for Northern BC will be hosting a memorial walk for Suicide Prevention Month tomorrow (Thursday).

The sixth annual Soles Remembering Souls Memorial Walk is being held to honour loved ones lost to suicide, and create a space where people can share the impact they’ve had by suicide.

Executive Director Riley Skinner talked about why this event is important for many.

“We get a lot of feedback from the community that this space that’s so intentionally created is something that people look forward to, especially when you are really wanting to talk about something that’s important to you, but you don’t always feel you have the right space to do so.”

Skinner said they have around 150 people attend the walk from around northern B.C., with 30 people who have died by suicide who are registered to the event.

He added those that are registered have a placard created, which are put along the walk and shares a few details to remember them by.

The walk is open for anyone to attend, and will go from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
