Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves have home games today (Friday) and tomorrow at Masich Place Stadium in Canada West men’s soccer.

The (3-4-2) UNBC men host the (4-1-2) Fraser Valley Cascades this morning at 11:00 and Saturday at noon.

On the women’s side, the (0-8) Timberwolves visit the (2-2-2) Victoria Vikes tonight at 5:00 and Saturday night at 5:00.

Exhibition University Volleyball:

The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack men’s volleyball team of Kamloops has exhibition games in Prince George against the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves.

The two teams meet at 7:30 tonight at CNC with the rematch Saturday night at 7:30 at UNBC.

 

BCHL:

The (0-1) Prince George Spruce Kings have their home opener tonight (Friday) at 7:00 against the (0-2) Surrey Eagles.

The Spruce Kings also host the (0-2) Okotoks Oilers Saturday night at 6:00.

WHL:

The (2-0) Prince George Cougars resume action with a doubleheader against the (1-1) Chiefs Oct 3rd and 4th in Spokane.

The next home game for the Cougars Prince George will be Wednesday, Oct. 8th against the (0-1) Kelowna Rockets.

BC Football Conference: 

The (4-3-1) Prince George Lheidl T’enneh Kodiaks have their last home game of the BC Football Conference season when they entertain the (0-8) Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00.

The Kodiaks, a 4th year team, can clinch their first ever playoff spot with a victory at Masich Place Stadium.

Prince George closes out its 10-game regular season schedule on the road in Chilliwack against the (3-4-1) Valley Huskers on October 4th.

The Kodiaks are in 3rd place in the 7-team league with the top four to advance to the playoffs.

The BCFC standings: Okanagan 9-0, Westshore 6-3, P.G. 4-3-1, Vancouver Island 3-4-1, Valley 3-4-1, Langley 2-5-1 and Kamloops 0-8.

NFL: (Week 4)

Seattle Seahawks  23  Arizona Cardinals  20

Jason Myers booted a 52-yard field goal on the last play of the game for the Seahawks, who improved their record to 3-1.

CFL: 

The (7-7) B.C. Lions host the (5-9) Toronto Argonauts tonight at 7:00 (PT) in their 4th last regular season game.

The Lions are tied with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for third place in the CFL West, just two points behind the (8-5) Calgary Stampeders, although the Stamps have a game in hand.

(Winnipeg holds the tie-breaker over B.C.)

Week 17 begins with Calgary at (7-7) Montreal tonight (Friday at 4:00).

CFL West: Saskatchewan 10-3, Calgary 8-5, Winnipeg 7-7, B.C. 7-7, Edmonton 5-9.
CFL East: Hamilton 9-5, Montreal 7-7, Toronto 5-9, Ottawa 4-10.

Toronto Blue Jays  6  Boston Red Sox  1

New York Yankees  5  Chicago White Sox  3

The (91-68) Blue Jays and the (91-68) New York Yankees are tied for the lead in the A.L. East with three games left.

Toronto is first because they hold the tie-breaker over New York.

The Blue Jays host the Tampa Bay Rays tonight (Friday 4:07 PT), Saturday and Sunday while the Yankees close at home against the Baltimore Orioles this weekend.
