Johanna Rathke resembled the Berlin Wall at its peak.
The stout German-born goalkeeper for the UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team turned aside all 13 shots from the Victoria Vikes on Friday night, clawing out a 0-0 draw.
Seven of Rathke’s saves came in the second half where Victoria fired everything including the kitchen sink but to no avail.
The Vikes carried much of the play in the opening 45 minutes, outshooting UNBC 6-1 and holding a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Overall, Victoria had 16 corners throughout the entire contest while the Timberwolves failed to register a shot.
Rathke leads all U-SPORTS goaltenders in the nation with 112 saves, 45 ahead of Lethbridge’s Kate Prince.
Madison Priebe of the Winnipeg Westmen set the record in 2023-24 with 141 stops.
Victoria goes to 2-2-3 on the campaign while the Timberwolves move to 0-8-1.
Both teams play again tonight (Saturday) at 5pm.
