TOC's bring different demands to the bargaining table

Joining teachers on the picket lines Tuesday are some of the dozens of teachers on call. TOC representative Caitlin Marquis says they face an inconsistent schedule, which often doesn’t amount to a full pay cheque. However, she says there is some discussion about TOC’s at the bargaining table, focusing on prep-time, the way call-outs are handled, as well as equal pay for both halves of the day.

Says her job is made more stressful when large classrooms with behaviour problems or kids who need extra help don’t have enough support staff to rely on.
