Trailing 3-1, George Springer smacked a 3-run homer in the 7th to give the Jays the victory and their first appearance in the World Series in 32 years.

Toronto will host the National League champion L.A. Dodgers in Game 1 Friday night just after 5:00 PT.

WHL: 

Prince George Cougars sniper Kooper Gizowski is the WHL Player of the Week.

The 20-year-old Gizowski notched eight points (4G-4A) and a plus-6 rating in two games, both wins on the road against Seattle and Tri-City.

The 5-foot-10, 171-pound winger, who was claimed off waivers from the Lethbridge Hurricanes during the offseason, has 18 points (9G-9A) in nine games which has him tied for second in WHL scoring.

–The (7-2) Prince George Cougars host the (7-4) Medicine Hat Tigers Wednesday night.

The Cougars are 2nd in the 12-team Western Conference, five points behind the (9-0-1) Everett Silvertips.

Prince George is sitting with the number-one power play (41%) and the number-one penalty kill (91.7 %).

They are averaging 4.8 goals per game while allowing an average of 2.33 a game.
(43 for and 21 against).

–Four players with the Prince George Cougars have been named to NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.

Defenceman Carson Carels is one of five WHL players to have earned an ‘A’ rating which means a projected first-round candidate.

Forward Kayden Lemire along with defencemen Phoenix Cahill and Dermot Johnston are ‘C’ rated players as projected fourth- or fifth-round candidates.

Spokane Chiefs forward Harrington Chase, who is from Prince George, has a ‘B’ rating which is a projected second- or third-round candidate.

The NHL Draft will be held on June 26th and 27th.

The (5-4) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (1-8) Chilliwack Chiefs on Friday and the
(0-10) Surrey Eagles on Saturday with their next home game on Saturday, November 1st against (4-3-2-1) Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The Spruce Kings are 3rd out of 5 in the BCHL Coast East Division.

CFL: 

The (10-7) B.C. Lions, riding a 5-game winning streak, conclude their regular season when they visit the (12-5) Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday (4:00 PT).

If the Lions beat the first-place Roughriders, they will clinch 2nd place and a home playoff game.

Week 21 starts with a pair of games Friday; (4-13) Ottawa at (10-7) Hamilton (4:00 PT) and (10-7) Calgary at (7-10) Edmonton (6:30).

The other game on the final weekend before playoffs has (10-7) Montreal at (9-8) Winnipeg Saturday (noon).

The Division semi-finals will be played on Saturday, November 1st followed by the Division finals on November 8th and the 112th Grey Cup Game on Sunday, November 16th in Winnipeg.

CFL West: Saskatchewan 12-5, B.C. 10-7, Calgary 10-7, Winnipeg 9-8, Edmonton 7-10.

Canada West Basketball:

The Canada West Basketball regular season begins Sunday afternoon for the UNBC Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves host the UBC Okanagan Heat with the women tipping off at 2:00 followed by the men at 4:00.

Meanwhile, the Canada West men’s soccer season is over for the UNBC Timberwolves who finished out of the playoffs with a 4-9-2 record.

City Council orders nuisance activities stop at Quentin Avenue property

Prince George City Council took action to address a nuisance property at tonight's (Monday) meeting. According to a staff report to Council, the property, located at 4235 Quentin Avenue, has been the subject of 25 calls for service from Bylaw Services, as well as 19 visits from the RCMP since July 2024.
