Updated: College Heights area power restored, multiple smaller outages remain due to wind storm

BC Hydro’s Outage List shows another 1,800 customers are without power south of Tyner Boulevard, west of Highway 97, and north-east of Highway 16.

Updated 12:09 p.m., Thursday, October 23rd:

BC Hydro is now reporting 481 more customers north of Landooz Road and east of Farms Road are now affected as well.

Updated 12:04 p.m., Thursday, October 23rd:

BC Hydro is now reporting some more outages around the City due to the wind storm.

According to their outages list, 1,045 customers are now affected East of University Way, South of 18th Avenue, West of Abbot Crescent, and North of Ferry Avenue.

There are several smaller outages as well:

  • 280 customers affected north of Pedscalny Road, south of Beaver Forest Road
  • 212 affected west of Cranbrook Hill Road
  • 173 affected west of Camp Road
  • 172 affected east of Shelley Road
  • 157 affected North of Buckhorn Lake Road, East of Pooley Road
  • 120 affected in the area of Chief Lake Road
  • 115 affected North of Highway 16 to the east of the City
  • Several others affecting less than 100 customers

BC Hydro says power has been restored to 2,975 customers in the College Heights area.

According to Hydro’s outages list, a tree was down across Hydro’s wires.

However Hydro still has multiple smaller outages listed today, with the causes listed as the wind storm, with around 150 customers affected in the Prince George area.

Around 3,000 BC Hydro customers in Prince George are without power this morning (Thursday) as strong winds are pounding much of the area.

According to BC Hydro, crews are investigating a large outage in the College Heights area, affecting 2,975 customers.

A crew has been assigned to investigate.

Other, smaller outages have been reported on BC Hydro’s outage page, affecting fewer customers in the community.

Many other communities in the Central Interior are dealing with outages as well, including the Fort Saint James area, where around 2,500 customers are without power.

A wind warning is blanketing much of Central B.C. today, as a frontal system is bringing winds with peak gusts of up to 90 kilometres an hour.

According to Environment Canada, these winds are expected to weaken this evening.
