Local fire crews douse two Boxing Day blazes

It was a busy Boxing Day for Prince George Firefighters who attended a pair of structure blazes.

The first occurred just after 10:30am yesterday (Friday) where crews from four halls responded to the Lombardy Mobile Home Park on Norwood Street.

Crews found a vacant single detached trailer, involved in heavy flames and with thick black smoke exiting from the windows.

It was deep seated and had caused significant structural damage, making firefighting efforts difficult.

Crews needed a few hours extinguishing the blaze. The cause is under investigation.

There were no injuries. Damage is estimated at $20,000.

The second blaze, occurred at about 9:00 p.m. when local Fire Rescue went to the 1000 block of Douglas Street.

Arriving crews found heavy smoke issuing from the rear of the residence and fire in the basement.

A quick attack rapidly extinguished the fire.

Two residents were transported by ambulance to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Damage to the residence is estimated at $150,000.

The fire appears accidental in nature.
