Lally strikes gold at Canadian OIympic team trials

Prince George Inner City boxer Kenny Lally captured gold at the Canadian Olympic team trials in Montreal.

The 26-year-old seven-time National champ beat Matieu Major of Quebec by unanimous decision in the final of the 56-kilogram division.

Lally, who is attempting to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics, has advanced to the Americas Olympic qualifying tournament March 8-20 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Another P.G. Inner City fighter, Jag Seehra, lost a split decision to national team member Rodolfo Valaquez of Ontario in the semi-final of the 60 kg weight class.
