Chiefs thump Spruce Kings

A five goal first period propelled the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 6-1 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings tonight (Fri).

Zach Guittari opened the scoring 24 seconds into the game to make it 1-0.

Chilliwack also got a first period hat-trick from Vimal Sukumaran followed by a single from Darien Craighead.

Prince George would pot one just before the intermission off the stick of Corey Hoffman to trim the deficit to 4 after 20 minutes.

Jordan Kawaguchi scored his fifth goal in two nights against the Spruce Kings late in the second to extend the lead to 6-1.

Neither team found the back of the net in the third as Chilliwack outshot Prince George 35-29.

Kale Kane also added three helpers for the Chiefs.

The Spruce Kings are now 13 points back of the Coquitlam Express for the final playoff spot in the Mainland Division following Coquitlam’s victory over Surrey.
