Cougars sweep Silvertips

The Cariboo Cougars took both ends of a home double header against the North Island Silvertips this weekend.

This morning (Sun) the Cougars won 3-1.

Josh Maser netted a pair of goals while Jeremy Gervais got the other goal for Cariboo.

Keaton Mastrodonato has the only goal for North Island.

Affiliate player Marcus Allen started in net and picked up the victory while regular starter Dorrin Luding was called up by the Saskatoon Blades.

On Saturday, Cariboo coasted to an 8-2 victory over the Tips.

Riley Coish opened the scoring for the Cougars to lead 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Cariboo exploded for four goals in the middle frame including a pair from Chase Dubois followed by singles from Ty Kolle and Tyler Maser.

Keaton Mastrodonato replied for North Island before the end of the period to make it 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Josh Maser, Jeremy Gervais and Dylan Cozzens added singles for the Cougars in the third followed by a Robbie Davis goal for the Silvertips.

Cariboo defenseman Chris Jandric netted four assists in the victory.

The Cougars wrap the first half of their schedule next weekend on the road against the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
