Prince George home sales in March were a little bit slower than expected according to the BC Northern Real Estate Board.
Sixty-three single-detached homes were sold for an average price of $527,830 – a decline of about 14 grand ($541,773) when compared to the same time last year.
Kristin Houghtaling with Royal Lepage Aspire Realty told MyPGNow.com even with a slight year–over-year decline in sales (decrease of five), the market is in pretty good shape.
“Home prices are still trending upwards so that shows good activity for the north and that Prince George market is strong. The inventory is slightly down, which is really great news for sellers but it still leaves a lot for buyers as well. Overall, I think its a pretty balanced market right now.”
“I think the weather affected a lot of people’s motivations in terms of buying or selling and it seems to be shaping up to be a pretty good spring.”
Houghtaling added the geopolitical issues centering around Iran, the United States and the Straight of Hormuz is not swaying people from entering the local housing market.
“We have been finding that people aren’t really as concerned when it comes to buying or selling. There are still some people changing jobs, moving in and out of town and even upgrading homes for building families. We are still seeing a lot of the natural movement when it comes to buying and selling.”
Year-to-date, 144 single family homes have sold in the northern capital with an average price of $526,262 – an increase of $20,000 when compared to March of 2025 ($506,287).
