It’s a disappointing end to a promising rookie season for Townes Kozicky.
The Prince George Cougars provided a medical update on the 17-year-old forward today (Friday) stating he suffered a ruptured spleen that occurred during last night’s (Thursday) 4-3 overtime loss to the Spokane Chiefs.
Due to the quick response by EMS and Spokane Chiefs Physicians & Training Staff, Townes was able to be quickly transported to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the ruptured spleen in an equally fast response time.
He is recovering, conscious, and in good spirits with his parents who are accompanying him.
Kozicky will travel home once he is discharged from the hospital, which should happen in the next couple of days.
He will miss the remainder of the WHL Playoffs but is expected to make a full recovery.
