Duchess Park Condors championship team recognized by City Council

The Duchess Park Senior Boys Volleyball team was recognized at City Hall Monday night, prior to the regular City Council meeting.

“You guys made us really proud, this is a moment we celebrate,” said Mayor Simon Yu.

“We as a City, we have won many championships, we have done a lot of great things, but to achieve the championship year together with the Sport Team of the Year from B.C., this is an honour that will go down in history that we remember as a people.”

In December, the Condors won the 2A boys provincial championship on home soil, defeating the Richmond Christian Eagles 3-2 in the final at the College of New Caledonia gym.

They were also named the Team of the Year at the 58th Annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards in March.
