PG’s Hit the Trails Challenge launches next phase, recognizes eight individuals

Tourism Prince George is recognizing eight individuals who are among the first group to complete the Hit the Trails 2025 Challenge.

It was an initiative to encourage residents and visitors to explore the region’s extensive trail network while contributing to a lasting environmental legacy.

The trail enthusiasts checked in on 15 or more trails across Prince George, to earn a special recognition: a shrub planted in their
honour at the new Khasdzoon Yusk’ut Botanical Garden, led by the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society.

2025 Challenge Completers (15+ Trails):

• Jacqueline Cormier (20)
• Nicole Ross (17)
• Charlene Crimeni (20)
• Donya Clarke (18)
• Dawn Kerfers (17)
• Daniel Sims (20)
• Ashley Saunders (23)
• Kyle Cameron (25)

The plants, selected by the Botanical Garden Society based on long-term sustainability and garden design, will be planted in spring/summer 2026, helping
to shape the evolving landscape of the Khasdzoon Yusk’ut garden.

“Investments like Hit the Trails don’t just showcase Prince George as a destination, they literally help grow it and create a sense of pride in our
community”, said Scott McWalter, Executive Director, Tourism Prince George.

“It’s incredible to work with partners like the David Douglas Botanical Society, who have created a unique space where people can discover the bounty of what
can flourish here. Meeting last year’s challenge completers, we heard how the program brought families and friends together while exploring nature, and even
how they found the perfect trail for walking their dog”.

The next edition of the Hit the Trails passport launches today (Wednesday), and runs
through October 31st

People can sign up by visiting the Tourism PG website.
