Volunteers needed ahead of Relay for Life return to PG

The return of Relay for Life is just over a month away, and organizers are calling for volunteers to make the event happen.

Director of Logistics Victoria Bleeker said they need around 500 volunteers spread across three days for things like traffic control, event set up and take down, first aid, and more.

Cancer is something that affects so many, and for Bleeker, that also goes for their volunteers.

“A lot of the individuals who have stepped up and are helping out are people who have been affected themselves or have seen others be affected by cancer, and we’re so grateful for that sense of community and everyone coming together in that way.”

Bleeker added there are incentives for those who choose to volunteer for eight hour shifts including a free meal from a local business, and a entry for a $200 gift card draw for each shift.

Relay for Life will be taking place at Masich Place Stadium from Saturday, June 27th at 8:30 a.m. until the 28th, ending at 10:00 a.m., with volunteers also needed on June 26th.

Those wanting to sign up to volunteer can do so on their Facebook page here.
